Metaverse Ink is a search engine for virtual worlds like Second Life. The first of its kind, this search engine searches over 2 million products in thousands of virtual spaces. Ranking is done using heuristics based on Second Life structures and social networking. The search engine can be used within Second Life et al or simply via your web browser without your having to log-in. Also, given the visual nature of metaverse worlds, the engine provides you with pictures, descriptions and SLURLs so you can teletransport directly to the object in question. Metaverse Ink is open, allowing you to choose between itself, Second Life’s search and Google—you can freely switch amongst the three.

MetaVerse Ink gives SL and other virtual world inhabitants a flexible search engine designed for their needs. It’s easy to access from both within the SL interface and on your regular browser.
It would be nice to see more filtering options. Also advanced search features could be added. It’s likely not to be the only search engine catering to the SL world. It needs to add more functionality.
