The UK-based MagicTaxi is a search engines which functions pretty much like any other one, except for that it donates 50% of its proceeds from advertising directly to charity. Every day, the site features a charity from its list of sponsored organizations, and all the revenue for that particular day will be donated directly to them. If you prefer to donate to just one charity, you can do that too; you can select a search homepage that will always feature your favorite organization. In addition to the search feature, you can also sign up for a Magic Taxi email account; his service also donates 50% of proceeds to charity. You don't pay a thing for these services; all of the donations are profits which come only from advertising revenue.

MagicTaxi's service is unique in that, not only does the search function donate money to charity, ou also have the possibility of setting up a philanthropic email account. Also, unlike other similar search engines such as Searchgive, MagicTaxi donates a much higher percentage of its profits which certainly appeal to anyone questioning the real motives of such sites.

The site only donates to UK charities; why not expand to include international philanthropic organizations? Even the UK list is pretty skimpy. The site's design is somewhat incongruous; why are there pictures of flowers everywhere if the name of the site is MagicTaxi? For publicity purposes maybe they should consider changing their name to include a hint as to what they do.
