Librophile.com - An Easy Way To Find Free Audio Books

A site which is currently out in beta, Librophile provides users with a clean interface that lets them find both free and paid audio books. This interface takes the shape of a scrollable bookshelf, and in addition to browsing through the latest audio books that are featured on the site there is a navigation menu made up of tabs such as “search”, “genre search” and “most popular”.

The needs of those who are partially-sighted and blind are likewise accounted for by the inclusion of contextual buttons and inline MP3 players in order to make it all even more user-friendly. It is possible to download or listen to a single audio chapter in addition to downloading a whole audio book, too. And subscribing to an audio book using iTunes is likewise a possibility.

All in all, the ones responsible for the site are clearly trying to come up with a one-stop resource where all audio and electronic books out there can be found and consumed. The different elements of the interface are certainly in the right place, and if developments keep on coming at the planned rate (such as the addition of multi-touch), then it can but pick momentum.

    Librophile.com In their own words

“Librophile.com (beta) provides a simple interface for finding both the free audio books at Librivox.org and the pay books at Audible.com.

Our ultimate aim is to provide a one stop shop of all the audio and electronic books out there. Using free tools such as jQuery and jQuery.TOOLS, Librophile offers a simple interface based around scrolling through books in the various archives. You can browse the latest books, search by keywords or choose more broadly by genre. You can often listen to chapters online, download a whole book, play a sample or subscribe using iTunes.”

Why Librophile.com might be a killer

The provided interface is not only elegant but also really practical, especially compared to what's out there at this moment.
