Lavva.com - Searching Goes The Social Way

    lavva

The word “social” is on everybody’s lips right now. Twitter has revolutionized everything, most notably the times of response to current events. So have networks. There is so much information there that we know we can rely on them in order to find both personal and professional information about any single person. It is not surprising, then, that the “social” concept will be applied to other entities and frameworks. This particular initiative does that for search engines, as it brings about a search mechanism whereby results are influenced by those who use it. This is done by turning search from a mere pattern of words into a social environment that learns from the users' behavior.

In this way, the basic role of the user is redefined. Instead of being part of a process which is dictated, the user begins dictating the process itself, and determining which results will actually be showcased when others do carry out a search. It is a good idea for a change, and one that takes the experience of users fully into account for creating a different context in which information can be accessed.

    In their own words

“The LAVVA team has developed a search engine that will change the way the world surfs the net! We, at LAVVA, have created a unique algorithm that works organically on the user level and adds the missing human element to browsing, transforming search from a pattern of keywords, to a personalized social environment. Hence our motto, Search Goes Social! LAVVA’s Social Search has improved search, empowering users with the ultimate information and communication platform. We set a goal and succeeded to subjugate the daunting task of eliminating the Internet’s biggest stain—SPAM! With LAVVA, not only do you get the standard search features of today’s top engines, but we’ve also enhanced results by simply expanding user control, refining search options and turning out the results that YOU want. We treat each search query as a unique request, producing top results based on users’ experiences, with an additional opportunity, if desired, to interact with others with the same immediate interests. That’s where LAVVA excels, is at this experienced based search model.”

Why it might be a killer

It is a natural evolution of the social concept.

    Some questions

Can it compete with Google, Bing et al?
