Ixigo.com - Search Engine for Indian Consumers

    ixigo

iXiGO is a travel search engine for Indian consumers. iXiGO is an infomediary, not an intermediary. That means they are not an online travel agency. They let you search directly across multiple airlines and online travel agencies in real-time so that you don't need to search a zillion travel websites. iXiGO.com thus aim to make your travel search easier for you, the same way Google does for information on websites. iXiGO is a search of the traveler, by the traveler and for the traveler. When you use iXiGO, you retain complete control on your travel choices and preferences. You choose which provider you want to book your tickets with, and can complete the booking directly on the provider's site.

    In their own words

"Our mission: to aggregate travel information and make it searchable and useful
Our passion: technology that brings speed, usability and transparency to the travel world."

Why it might be a killer

Today, with the launch of their "anywhere to anywhere" feature, iXiGO has provided a lot of value for travellers travelling to/from smaller cities in India. iXiGO provides recombination facility across all 14 airlines which fly on the given route, thereby shaving off prices substantially (in some cases up to 40%). An indicative search on Bangalore to Ranchi, or Cochin to Srinagar on iXiGO as well as all the major Online Travel Agencies (Yatra, Makemytrip, Cleartrip etc.) highlights the value iXiGO provides to the consumers. It is a real disruptive product.

    Some questions

Are they going to add some more destinies apart form the ones they already offer?
