    Goodsearch.com - Searching For A Cause

Do you have a cause you care about? Saving the environment? Finding a cure for cancer? Finding homes for abandoned pets? What if we could raise money for our favorite charities by doing something we do every day - searching the Internet? GoodSearch is a search engine, powered by Yahoo, which donates 50-percent of its revenue to the charities and schools designated by its users. The money GoodSearch donates to your cause comes from its advertisers; users do not spend a dime.

You use GoodSearch exactly as you would any other search engine. First, choose from thousands of organizations from the “Who do you Goodsearch for?” box or add your favorite cause to the list and then search the Internet just like you normally would. You can download its toolbar for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox. By clicking on the “Amount Raised” button you'll see in real-time the number of searches and money raised for your charity. Users can support as many causes as they'd like and can change the designated organization by clicking on "clear selection" and then typing in the name of the new organization.

    Goodsearch.com In their own words

“Our goal is to help as many nonprofits and schools as possible. We want to help fund the great works they are doing. And, as important as the money, GoodSearch allows people to feel connected to organizations helping to make the world a better place and support them every single day. We believe that "doing good" should be a part of people's everyday lives. Because we donate such a substantial part of our revenue to the organizations that you designate, we're not spending a lot on advertising. That's why we need your help in spreading the word! We hope you’ll not only use GoodSearch as your main search engine from now on, but will also tell your friends, family and co-workers so they, too, can start using GoodSearch to support their favorite cause!”

Why Goodsearch.com might be a killer

Goodsearch is definitely a simple and convincing concept. The idea behind this search engine is brilliant. Forward-thinking companies are making philanthropy a part of their business models. Goodsearch has a huge potential audience. Search engine advertisers generate near to $6 billion annually. Imagine only if a small part of that revenue would have gone to charities. Since it doesn’t cost anything and because it is powered by Yahoo! you get proven search results, there’s no reason not to use it. GoodSearch is also a great way for people to stay connected with a cause.

    Some questions about Goodsearch.com

Will they develop a method to see a list of all the charities in the database? Will they include image, video and news searches in the donation system? Will they add additional toolbars? The toolbar is currently available only for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Firefox.
