    En.Serchilo.net - Command the Web

    en

Serchilo is a search engine that allows you to take advantage of many of the most popular search engines all in the same place. By either entering your keyword search in the search box at en.serchilo.net or by downloading the browser plug-in you can get more out of your searches. Serchilo works by allowing you to place short commands before your search to tell the engine where to look for what you want. “g” stands for Google so if you want to use Serchilo for a Google search, simply type a “g” followed by a space before your search terms. Other popular commands include “w” for Wikipedia articles, “gm” for Google Maps, “a” for Amazon, “yp” for Yellow Pages and a host of others. If you are unsure of what the exact command is, you can search through them all with a link provided.

    In their own words

“Serchilo is a wiki-based command line for the web. Use Commands to search directly on various websites, i.e. g berlin: searches at Google for berlin. g is the keyword for Google, and berlin its argument. Other Commands need more arguments, i.e.: db berlin, hamburg searches for the next train connection from Berlin to Hamburg. Arguments need to be separated by a comma. Enter your commands on the Homepage or install a search plugin.”

Why it might be a killer

Serchilo allows you to search use a plethora of tools without having to change engines. Integration of such a wide array of engines into one easy to use portal could make Serchilo a popular location.

    Some questions

Will people have trouble remembering the proper commands or exactly how to enter them? Unless they can provide an easier to use interface they probably will not appeal to the masses.
