elzr.com/Imagery/ - The Better Way to Search for Images

    elzr

Imagery takes searching for images to a new level. When searching with Google Images, so much space isn't utilized and it's hard to browse through images without having to click to their actual page to see what you're dealing with. With Imagery, each thumbnail is close to the next, occupying your whole screen with images from your search results. If you mouse over one, it shows you the space in which the image will occupy proportionally to the screen. You can also check out the original source or just see the image in a pop out window. For more options, you can click on an image and it will be saved to the bottom of the screen. There, you can zoom in or out from the image, fit it to your screen, and more. You can continue browsing, saving the images you like at the bottom as you go through the search results. Also, after you've viewed an image, it will change to a more opaque color so that you know you've already viewed it. If you want to delete some of the images from the results that come up, you just need to click on them twice. When moving to the next set of images, you don't have to change pages. The next set just continues to add in scrolling page form to your previous results. Other tools on the site include being able to keep track of multiple searches at one time through the use of tabs, and search preferences based on size, color, and filetype. Next time you want to search for an image, you'll want to use Imagery instead of the typical Google Images.

    In their own words

"This is a prototype, a proof of concept that image searching can be improved."

Why it might be a killer

They make searching for images so much easier, like the way it should be. There are extra options, allowing you to find the image you're looking for much more quickly, without having to constantly go back and forth through pages to see the original images.

    Some questions

What other features will they be adding the future to make searching for the right image even easier? Will they try to monetize the site in other ways besides tips? Will they add the ability to function in other browsers besides Firefox?
