Cookthink.com - Cook What You Crave

Cookthink is one of my new favorite sites -- for style, substance and form. You put in what you are craving into their search bar (ie, pasta, vegetarian, rice, etc), and they give you a recommended recipe.

If you don't like that one, they link you to other similar recipes. And these recipes are simply laid out with photos and tips. For example, in my pasta recipe, they had related tips on "how to chop an onion" and "how to mince garlic" with photos. Good stuff. They also had a link to what "goes with" my recipe. In my case, fried eggplant with garlic. Best of all, the design of all these recipes and tips was simple yet elegant, and aimed at the layperson. So, in essence, Cookthink walked me through an entire meal with great preparation and cooking recommendations. You can also do a search through their blog for other insights. I am thoroughly impressed and look forward to watching this site grow and evolve.

    Cookthink.com In their own words

That's the question that inspired us to create Cookthink. We wanted a tool that would help us answer that question, night-after-night and meal-after-meal. We wanted a tool that would take the various things we were craving — something with chicken in it, something Italian, something grilled, something invigorating — and suggest a good recipe based on those cravings. We created Cookthink to be that tool. Over the coming months, we'll be testing out new features that will help you personalize Cookthink so that you can find recipes that will satisfy what you're craving.

Why Cookthink.com might be a killer

Cookthink adds a creative twist to the online cooking site genre. You can input your food craving and it helps you find exactly what you want from there. You either accept their initial recommendations or you keep searching with their help and encouragement. What is even more impressive are the side links that keep offering your more tips and recommendations, so you always feel confident and supported.

    Some questions about Cookthink.com

The search engine might need some fine-tuning and/or additional recipes. When I entered "avocado" into the search bar, no recipes turned up. Same with peanut butter. When I entered pasta, however, a plethora of recipes showed up and that is when I really enjoyed the site. Also, how do they hope to compete against some bigger online cooking sites and how do they hope to make a profit?
