In order to simplify this state of affairs, we now have Trackr, a GPS based social tracing network. To get started, download the software to your Java enabled or Windows based mobile phone. Once installed, your pre-approved friends will be able to see where you are via the website. You can also send out individual access codes to your friends so they can see you without having to register or login. Tracks can be saved and you can even put a trackr map on your website so visitors can check out your position.

For ardent social networkers and light communications fans Trackr is a treasure. It simplifies updating and profile upkeep. It also makes connecting with friends and keeping in touch easier, as they’ll know where you are and when. Plans can be arranged without having to send out sms’s or emails etc.

GPS tracking services are nothing new and Trackr is looking pretty light on the features end. There’s not much you can do with this. I doubt people will want to be tracked constantly. There also some security concerns here. The wrong people could very well keep tabs on users for nefarious ends.
