OpenClip.org - Cut And Paste On iPhone

    openclip

The iPhone is a state-of-the-art device that should allow anyone to seamlessly integrate their digital life and their normal life. That’s all great, but you can’t cut and paste text on it. Whoever left that feature out of the iPhone should be fired from Apple. Over at Openclip.org, some wise developer has made an application that will allow you to cut and paste text from the iPhone’s many applications. OpenClip is not an application. It is something that will allow you to cut and paste text from one application to the other. Application developers should look into this to decide whether or not they want to integrate OpenClip to their app. Cut and paste is something that should be on the iPhone, and until Apple doesn’t do something about it, it’s up to developers to fix that bug. If you want to know what apps support this great feature, you’ll find a list of them on the site.

    In their own words

“OpenClip is a non-profit, open-source, community-effort project, which promotes a framework for the iPhone that allows users to copy / paste between participating applications.”

Why it might be a killer

Somebody had to do it. As long as Apple doesn’t incorporate cut and paste to the iPhone, this effort should have many (maybe millions) of followers.

    Some questions

What will happen when Apple incorporates the function with new firmware?
