    Frucall.com - Be a Smart Shopper

    Frucall

Frucall is a new service designed to help you make better shopping decisions. The service is free and very easy to use, and all you need to do is sign up with your email address or cell phone number, so that when you are shopping for something online or offline and you want to know if the price you are about to pay is okay or you are being ripped off, you can call the frucall toll-free number, text the company with the product name or barcode, or search it in the mobile version of the site using your phone. Frucall searches for prices in top online retailers, like Amazon.com, Shopping.com, Yahoo prices and StreetPrices.com, and gets back to you with the information, so that you can be sure to buy the stuff you like at the best prices available, and can even make a purchase using the Frucall mobile site. The service is completely free for searchers. Frucall also has some interesting community features, as users can keep track of the items they like and receive alerts whenever a product reaches the price they are willing to pay for it, have a buddy list, read and write product reviews and many similar features.

    In their own words

“Frucall is a free phone-based price-comparison shopping service for consumers to compare prices and purchase products using their cell phones, anywhere, anytime. Frucall blends the benefits of in-store shopping with the flexible nature of shopping online; providing consumers with a unique mobile shopping experience”.

Why it might be a killer

This is a great service, in so as much as it allows users to access information on the prices they want to know about in real time, as opposed to having to research something before buying it, of learning that it was so much cheaper in the internet when it’s too late. And also, since it allows users to text or make a phone call and not just require them to surf the mobile net (which we all know that can be a huge drag), it can reach a big audience, and easily become a killer startup.

    Some questions

It seems to me that lots of large internet eCommerce portals are not searched for prices, which in turn raises the question about the reliability of Frucall’s services. If they leave out the largest providers, they are hardly creating a faithful sample for the prices around, right?
