Buddyping.com - Find Your Friends

BuddyPing brings going out to a whole new level. That’s because next time you are out at a great bar (or just want some extra company in the park) you don’t have to tediously text message everyone in your contact list- you can use BuddyPing to send an online alert or text message to all of your friends, and in turn find out where they are. Buddyping.com is a stand-alone site, and they have recently created widgets for MySpace and bloggers. You can also share videos or photos (if any friends need convincing to come join you). The service is entirely free (that is, aside from standard text message rates).

BuddyPing does a great job of providing a service that alerts trusted contacts to your precise whereabouts (an increasingly popular application for mobile phones) but maintains user-privacy (your location is only publicized when you want it to be).

Does it actually work for users in all countries? I tried to set up the service with my mobile phone in Argentina, and never received the promised text message from the company.
