In their own words
Let’s face it, we all have limited minutes on our cell phones. Most people have about 100 daytime minutes and that’s it. What happens when you use more than the 100 minutes? Let’s not even go there… ouch, 25 cents a minute? Insane. Let’s not even talk about long distance on your cell phone to the US/Canada… 30 cents a minute? Sad, but true. In other words, if you talk for an hour it’ll cost you $18. This is a problem… no, wait, scratch that… this is a catastrophe! Fortunately, there’s a solution… an insanely great one at that… Forget about calling people the traditional way. bOK them instead. It’s fast, cheap, and most importantly, sexy. But, you ask, how does bOKing my friends save me money? Well, first of all, bOKing your friends costs you about 10x less than what your typical phone company will charge you… yaaay!!!
Why it might be a killer
“Yaaay!” is absolutely right. bOk is offering up an amazing deal during their beta testing and you should probably get your texting fingers all over that before the offer runs up. You don’t have to switch companies, because bOk runs concurrent to your existing plan.
Some questions
They don’t give you any information on how they are processing the calls or how they plan on profiting. Are they using voIP? How long will Free minutes in country last, and after, how much do they plan on charging?
Updates
bOK has a facebook application now that will let you call your friends for free!
