With introduction of GPS capabilities to mobile phones, a new door has been opened for third-party developers to take advantage of the uses of GPS. AppLoop, a recently-launched service, is doing just that. This site aims to provide developers with a platform for tracking local mobile application usage, and distributing ads to compliment this. By utilizing the GPS capabilities, AppLoop tracks when a consumer is close to a specified business address. That business’s ads can then be sent to the user, based on his or her specific location. Additionally, this service provides developers with a detailed list of statistics to track consumers’ usage and session info, which allows developers to track the length of time and the frequency a user is in a specific area.
