Kooaba.com - Mobile Image Recognition Platform

    kooaba

Switzerland-based Kooaba is looking to cash in on the mobile marketing frenzy by offering a solution that allows users to snap photos on their mobile phones and receive instant and relevant information about the images they take. Instead of having to type a message and send it to a short code, Kooaba allows users to simply send the photo and receive the information they require. The service is currently available for movie posters and certain newspapers and magazines and will soon be available for tourist sites and just about anything else you can imagine. While it sounds like a far-fetched intelligent image recognition solution, it is actually closer to a marketing solution that allows companies to add their images to a database complete with the links that they’d like customers to be sent to when they snap a photo.

    In their own words

“kooaba allows you to access and search for digital content from your mobile phone. Instead of tedious typing and browsing, kooaba's search results are accessed by sending a picture as query.’

Why it might be a killer

Without a doubt, the majority of current mobile marketing solutions are outdated because potential customers have to take too many clumsy steps to reach the intended goal. Removing the clumsiness by allowing people to simply point and click to find out more would appear to be the way of the future.

    Some questions

This solution is only as strong as the customers that it manages to bring on board. What plans do they have in place to scale this solution quickly so that it can essentially process anything that a person takes a photo of?
