Remember the times when people used to send real paper post cards to each other? Well, now you can revive that old, rather un-green tradition using HippoPost. This useful Facebook app lets you send a free, yes, you don’t have to pay a cent, postcard to any of your friends in the US or Canada. It’s easy too—you don’t even have to touch any paper or ink. Just select a photo from any one of your Facebook albums (this will be the front, printed with glossy paper) and customize your message, including the recipient’s address. Cards arrive within a week, usually. If you haven’t jumped on the Facebook gang wagon, you can still send free postcards from HippoPost itself.

This is one cool and useful app. Who doesn’t like to get paper mail? It’s incredibly easy to use—you don’t have to get up from your computer—it’s free, and you can customize your own card. This would be great for travelers—it’s a lot more personal and it saves you a trip to the post office.

Even with the ads on the bottom of each card, will HippoPost be able to sustain itself? Postcards aren’t cheap. How many cards can a user send out? Will this be available worldwide?

| Cool app, simple to use. This is the idea we all thought of while holding a camera phone at the top of the ski hill... can't wait for their mobile app. | ||

| That is cool...slick and easy...people don't get fun mail anymore. When I can send them right from my BlackBerry...that will be very very cool! | ||
