    SuperChirp.com - A New Paid Tweets Service

    superchirp

This is a new paid tweets service. It enables anybody to charge his current followers for some or all of his tweets. That is, the ones who opt for using it will not have to create a new account, the old one suffices. These paid tweets are sent in the guise of direct messages, and the payment is handled a la PayPal.

The spirit of the site is encapsulated by its tagline “Tweets so good they’re worth paying for”. The thing is, there are already tweets that are good, entertaining, enlightening or however you want to call them and they cost nothing. Nil. Nada. The same applies to different web-based tools such as task managers and even webhosting services. Of course, you have to look out for them. I will be the first to admit that the idea of having access to only “top” tweets is naturally appealing, yet I fear many will keep on tweeting and looking for tweets as usual and don’t go near services like this one. Because - if you think about it - 140 characters are not enough for a brilliant exposition or a life-changing revelation meriting digging in your pockets.

    In their own words

“Tweets so good they’re worth paying for.”

Why it might be a killer

Such a platform makes for distributing premium content through Twitter. Although it is debatable how many are actually willing to go for a service like this one, it can be put to very good uses such as the promotion of charities.

    Some questions

How viable is a model like this one? Can it really catch on?
