GoBootStrap.com - Bookkeeping Solution for Dummies

    gobootstrap

From two former employees of the company Intuit, which brought Quickbooks to the accounting world, comes Bootstrap, a web-based accounting solution designed specifically for people who hate accounting. Since people who don’t enjoy the accounting part of their business generally want things to be kept as simple as possible, Bootstrap has been designed with only four basic and understandable tabs: Income, Expenses, Taxes, and Reports. Users simply have to enter their figures into one of the corresponding tabs and Bootstrap takes care of everything else, including your taxes, and they even include a box on every page which let’s you know exactly what your year-to-date profits are.

    In their own words

“Bootstrap was created after watching a number of small businesses like ourselves struggle to capture all of their business deductions, often piecing together a number of different solutions. Whether it was sticking every possible receipt in a file folder and shipping it off to a bookkeeper, or tracking everything in a huge spreadsheet, or even using a couple of different web sites to track time and create invoices, the results were invariably the same: too much time and effort spent on the least enjoyable part of running one's own business.”

Why it might be a killer

They seem to have thought of everything while always remembering to keep things simple. While they continue to tweak things in beta mode the solution is being offered completely free of charge and there are no locks on exporting data so early-adopting entrepreneurs might decide to give it a shot and stick with it when they roll out their business model.

    Some questions

Ultimately, the success of Bootstrap will be decided by the competitiveness of their pricing structure in this crowded space. Have they considered at least providing a rough idea of what the solution will cost after the free beta period ends?
