People blogging from all kinds of backgrounds, across the world are generating a wealth of knowledge. However, the main problem (like an e-mail inbox) is information overload. Out of the millions of blog posts every day, which are the best ones? RSS readers try to help keep tabs- but they don't solve the "which blog posts are best" problem. Places such as the Huffington Post are great, but their commissioned Bloggers use the medium of blogs to build a traditional new source - rather than bringing together the best of what is being produced. The Issue is a blog newspaper. The team handpicks some of the top blog posts each day to produce a comfortably formatted newspaper. Capitalizing on the diversity of perspectives - they show 4 views on a particular Issue each day. This allows them to fight bias and let readers make informed decisions, getting a deep dive into every Issue in a short amount of time. They’ve got several other sections as well, including a photoblog section called the Darkroom and a "What Ever Happened To" section that picks up news that the mainstream media has forgotten about - something bloggers also do quite well.

“The Issue is a non-partisan blog newspaper that provides a window to an emerging world of diverse and informed opinions. We cull the blogosphere for its wise insights, probing analyses, and diverse perspectives, drawing together a borderless newspaper. By combining the democratization and diversity of new media with the format and editorial standards of traditional news, we hope to offer a hybrid news source that provides the best of both worlds.”

This is a site that adds value to: The Blogger - Increased traffic and exposure of their site - because they only use a short excerpt and then a link. The Blog Reader - A great portal through which to discover new blogs, or start your daily blog dive. The News Reader - Get multiple perspectives from a news source that has more reporters than all of the other news sources combined, located all around the world, writing on all kinds of different topics.

| I was just looking into The Issue because I have been so impressed by the stuff that I have seen on their site, so I googled them and saw that they were featured here. Doesn't surprise me. I look forward to getting insight from them and to seeing them make the climb of a killer startup. | ||

| I think these guys have a lot of potential. A number of big players have already put their foot in the blogging door buy buying out blog providers, e.g. Google purchased Blogger. Dissatisfaction with conventional media is growing. Pages like theissue.com seem to be the next logical step, and it will not surprise me to see sites like these being bought up in the next few years.I was impressed with the breadth of the articles at theissue.com. Their selections do seem to provide a non-partisan cross-section. I think with a little capital and some classic business finesse, they could take it to the next level. I'll definitely be keeping my eye out. | ||

| I'm in SEO and web research and can really appreciate (w/ Nicky) what these guys bring to the table as far as bringing in high quality opinion without restricting themselves to a very few channels. The RSS with a human, thematized, warmer | ||

| The issue.com is an extremely useful resource for me. It's a great way to have a broad-based access point to the wealth of well-written opinions out there, without having to personally sort through the maze of not-so-well-written entries. Without a central resource like this one, I don't think I'd have the time required to seek out many of the insightful and interesting articles I've read. | ||

| I agree completely that this website is extremely innovative and bears a ton of potential. With all the blogs out there -- some being terrific and some being terrible, some interesting, some not -- there really ought to be some kind of UNBIASED, smart way to organize and sift through entries on a given topic. It seems like TheIssue is doing just that. Nice work! | ||
