Spread OpenID’s mission is summed up succinctly in its name- to introduce, teach, and evangelize OpenID to those that are unfamiliar with the concept. OpenID is a decentralized URL-based identifier that allows users a single login to all websites that accept OpenID. In other words, a user has a unique universal login that takes the form of a URL code, and can use this to securely log in to all web sites that accept this form of ingression. Spread OpenID attempts to fulfill its mission by comparing OpenID login providers, compiling a dictionary of technical terms, linking to other websites that write about the topic, and eventually composing original articles about OpenID.

Spread OpenID takes on the noble cause of explaining OpenID to the general public, which will ideally allow it to catch on more quickly. It explains the basics that are overlooked or ignored by authors on other OpenID websites and thus targets a large and important mass of potential users.

Spread OpenID still speaks to a group of relatively well-informed and tech-savvy individuals. To really make a difference with the general public, it will have to simplify the writing, as well as the explanation of the concept of OpenID, even more.
