Live blogging is neat stuff, but trying to read a live blog in real time can be painfully slow. Not only do you constantly have to gear your fingers for the refresh button, you also sometimes have to scroll to the bottom of the page just to see what interesting or inane info has been added.

ShiftEdit aims to change all that. At the moment, it works with Facebook, MSN and OpenID. Once you’ve logged in you’ll need to create an event and give it a name. Step three will find you inviting your friends and then you’ll start blogging, live. Yep, it’s that easy. And you don’t even have to register. Multiple author capability via your invite code lets you share the experience, giving readers a refreshing multi-perspective view. You can order your posts from first to last or vice versa, depending on your personal prefs. There’s also a delete button right next to your post for quick editing. ShiftEdit is in alpha, but it’s definitely got the right chops—it’s worth a look.
