R-mail.org - RSS feeds in your email inbox

I never knew how many RSS feed services were out there until I browsed the ones offered on Rmail´s site. The site provides a service that sends RSS feeds directly into your email inbox.

It is an easy and efficient way to get all of your RSS feeds at once, in one place. You can also search for feeds or just scroll down the list to find ones you might not have known about previously. Rmail is free and simple to use; just join on the site. You can also put an Rmail widget on your blog so that your readers can subscribe to an email RSS feed. The Rmail service works like this: you just put the URL of the RSS feed in the first input control, your email address in the second input control and click on the Subscribe button. You"ll get an email explaining how to activate your subscription. When you receive an R-mail subscription, the email has three links. The first link is for normal subscriptions, where an unsubscribe link is provided with each new email received. The second link is for clean subscriptions and does not include the unsubscribe link. If your blogging software has an email gateway, then you can use this second link to automatically post content on a blog.

    R-mail.org/ In their own words

“Rmail started out when I was looking for a way of allowing my readers to subscribe to my blog via email. I tried all sorts of different RSS to email gateways and pretty much every one of them didn"t work. So, I wrote Rmail. And now we have over 50,000 users, 100,000 subscriptions and we"re sending over 50,000 emails per day. It"s amazing how trying to solve a simple pain is often the path to success. Anyhow, thanks to all the early users for making this all possible.”

Why R-mail.org/ might be a killer

The site already successfully links to about a hundred RSS feeds, and it can only grow from here. It´s a useful idea that is sure to become standard for bloggers who allow RSS feeds on their site.

    Some questions about R-mail.org/

How about adding some advanced sharing features that allow people to promote their blogs on the site? That would add to Rmail´s popularity and provide incentive for people to be active on the site.
