Deadspin.com - Blog About Sports News & Info

    deadspin

Deadspin is trying to find and provide sports information and news on the web in a way that makes you forget, if just for the briefest of seconds, that you have to file that report/duplicate that invoice/fax that cover sheet. They believe that there’s a whole side of sports that, because of either corporate obligations or just plain laziness, never makes it into the public consciousness, and Deadspin specializes in that side. They provide sports news without access, favor, or discretion. You’ll find funny articles, rumors, photos and videos, as well as an archive that goes back to august 2005. The listing of categories available to browse is really large; it goes from Andre Agassi to Cold Pizza, Crazy Fans and ESPN Hollywood.

    In their own words

“We are run by Will Leitch, an editor at The Black Table and author of two books, Catch and Life as a Loser. We are assisted by Rick Chandler, a former columnist for MSNBC. We beg this of you; we’re nothing without you. Anonymity is guaranteed. However, each tipster has the option of being mentioned by name on the blog, if they so choose or we will just give them a strong, manly hug. Anytime you ever see an athlete anywhere, doing anything, drop us a line.”

Why it might be a killer

Deadspin is rapidly becoming a major player on the national sports scene. It has a huge male potential audience and will probably attract a growing number of fans. If its sports related, Deadspin has put something to say.

    Some questions

Deadspin is entering a competitive and crowded market. Sports news are everywhere, on TV and radio stations, newspapers and magazines, online portals, and so on. Will people prefer this kind of casual, sarcastic style and biased information or will they just stick to traditional media?
