CareBadges.com - Charity Badgets for Social Networks

    carebadges

CareBadges are flash based widgets used to raise money and raise awareness for certain causes. They can be placed on blogs, personal websites and social networks such as Myspace. Popular causes include Fight Global Warming, TOTTSHR or Tails of the Tundra Siberian Husky Rescue, Stop the War, and Free Hikkomori. The widgets can be customized by color depending on your donation. Additionally, there’s a tracking function to trace how much money you’ve raised along with how many others have reposted the badge from your site and how much money they’ve made in total. The addition of RockYou allows users to put slideshows on to their widgets.

    In their own words

"A CareBadge is a unique file that we create for you upon purchase and represents your donation and support for the given cause. The CareBadge is unique and assigned to you, or the person that you bought it for. The Carebadge links back to our site and keeps track of the impact of your badge and the progress of the campaign.

The Live Strong Yellow Bracelet campaign raised over $50 million for the Lance Armstrong Foundation through millions of individual purchases. Our team was inspired by the results of this campaign and set out to build a fundraising platform that would be the "Yellow Bracelets" or "Ribbon" of the internet. Our mission is to raise awareness and funds for any cause that you care about (for-profit or non-profit).”

Why it might be a killer

CareBadges are for a good cause, and most people are all for that. The widgets are easy to implement and their viral nature will see that the message goes far. The RockYou addition gives badges more impetus too.

    Some questions

How much really goes to charity? What causes can be added?
