Blogged.com - Human Edited Blog Directory

In an effort to help you find better blogs, the team at Blogged have created a blog directory edited by actual humans—they don’t simply rely on inbound links a la Technorati and gang. So far the directory has got over 200,000 blogs which have been rated and reviewed by the Blogged editing team.

There are about twenty different categories ranging from Art and Education to Humor and Government. Each blog is listed with a short description, rating (based on frequency of posts, design, style and relevance of content), and the latest posts from the blog feed. There’s also a list of related blogs. Readers are welcome to comment as well. In fact, readers are given tools for bookmarking, sharing and providing feedback about blogs—after registering. They may also create profiles, listing their favorite blogs and those that they visit often.

Blogged makes blogs more accessible for those out there that still haven’t gotten into the habit of blog reading. It’s a much consumer friendly, less nerdish looking directory than Technorati. It helps users find blogs that are off the big publication circuits.

Blogged hasn’t really added anything new to the blog directory sector. It’s difficult to say how carefully they rate blogs—they don’t do an exact breakdown of points, so you can’t see where a blog excels or needs work. They only promote a few top blogs, so readers can’t really discover for themselves.
